Real Estate Photo Editing in Luxembourg: Before and After

A property photo is made twice: once on the day of the shoot, and once in editing. On the day, we shoot every frame at three exposures. In editing, the three are blended into one photo, lines are straightened, colours are corrected, and whatever could not be moved on the day is removed: a baby cot, a laundry basket, a car parked in front of the façade. Below is each step with real before and after pairs from our 2026 shoots in Luxembourg, what a package includes, and where editing should stop.
On every pair, the left photo is one frame straight from the camera, at the middle exposure. The right photo is what we delivered.
Why every frame is shot three times
A room with a window has more contrast than a camera can record in one shot. Expose for the room and the window turns white. Expose for the window and the room goes dark. Your eye handles this on a viewing; a single photo cannot.
So we bracket: three frames of the same composition, one stop brighter, normal and one stop darker. In editing they are blended so the walls, the floor and the view through the window are all readable at once. Done properly, it looks like the room on a bright day, not the over-processed "HDR look" buyers have learned to scroll past.

AfterWindow views, colour and straight lines
The second job is to make the set honest and consistent. Vertical lines stand straight, so walls do not lean in on a wide-angle frame. White balance is set once for the whole property, so the kitchen and the living room do not look like two different flats on the portal. Colour casts from bulbs and from the light bouncing off a green lawn or a painted wall are taken out.
This is where most of the difference comes from in rooms that need nothing removed.
Before
AfterLived-in homes: what cannot be moved on the day
Most properties in Luxembourg are photographed while someone still lives there, and an agency usually has one slot to shoot them. We ask tenants to make the beds and put personal things away. What stays (the cot that cannot be dismantled, the robot vacuum, the fuse box, the shoes in the hall) is removed in editing.

Heavier work: rebuilt walls and clean façades
Some photos need more than removing a few objects. When a storage room is full of boxes, the editor rebuilds the wall and the floor behind them. When four cars are parked in front of a house, the façade, the driveway and the sky are restored where the cars stood. Road signs, bins and passers-by go the same way.

Where editing should stop
Editing should remove what the buyer will not get, and never hide what they will.
- Remove: the current owner's furniture and belongings, cars, bins, cables, people, a blown-out window.
- Keep: cracks, damp stains, worn floors, a pylon or a building next door, the real view from the window, the real size of the room.
A buyer who finds a hidden defect on the viewing stops trusting the rest of the listing. Clean photos bring people in; honest ones keep them there.
What a package includes
Every photo we deliver gets its exposures blended and its colour corrected. The photos in your package are then edited by hand in Photoshop at our Advanced level: perspective, tone and small distracting details. Package photos are ready in 2 days.
Removing objects and people, and rebuilding what was behind them, is Signature retouching. We look at the photos and agree it with you for the specific frames before we start. What each level covers: photo editing levels. Shoot sizes and prices: real estate photography · photo and video packages.
How to prepare the property
The less there is to remove, the faster and cleaner the result. Before the shoot:
- Open blinds and curtains, and switch off screens.
- Make the beds and clear the kitchen worktops and bathroom shelves.
- Put away shoes, laundry, bins and pet bowls.
- Move cars away from the front of the house if you can.
- Tell us what must not appear: documents, family photos, children's names on the wall.
For what the shoot itself needs (lenses, drone, photo or video, turnaround), see our guide to real estate photography in Luxembourg.
FAQ
Is it acceptable to remove things from listing photos? Removing movable things the buyer will not get (furniture, belongings, cars) is common practice. Hiding defects or changing the view or the size of a room misleads buyers, so we do not do it.
Will the photos look over-processed? No. The aim is a room that looks the way it does on a bright day: readable windows, true colours, straight walls.
How long does editing take? Package photos are ready in 2 days. For heavier retouching we agree the photos and the timing with you before we start.
